ELECTRIC SHADOWS was founded in Vienna in early 2020 by filmmakers Weina Zhao and Thomas Fürhapter. Since 2025, Thomas Fürhapter has been the sole owner of the company.

We are a film production company dedicated to reimagining cinematic practice. Our work is rooted in diversity, intersectionality, critical reflection, and an ethics that resists essentialism. We understand film as a space of interwoven perspectives and transformative encounters.

For us, filmmaking is not only about representation but about responsibility, relationships, and the ongoing evolution of stories, voices, and forms. We explore new ways of production and mediation in which process and outcome are inseparably connected.

We do not claim to have definitive answers. What drives us is an open and thoughtful commitment to asking better questions – together.
